A two days seminar was organised by southern Railway Administration on 27.6.2011 and 28.6.2011 in regard to reservationpolicy of Government of India and Railway Board for appointment and promotion in Railway services with Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward classes.This seminar has intended to enlight various issues which were under clarification from various parts of southern Railway and to give clear guidelinesfor better implementation of reservation policy.The seminar was inaugurated by the General Manager Shri Deepak Krishaninpresence of Shri R. Ramanathan, Additional General Manager.Shri N.K. Prasad, Chief Personnel Officer, Southern Railway and Chief Liaison Officer participated in the inaugural function on 27.6.2011 and inaugurated the seminar.Nearly 110 delegatesfromChennai, Madurai, Trichirappalli, Salem, Palakkad and Trivandrum Divisions alongwith Caririage Workshop, Loco Workshop and Electrical Wrokshop at Perambur, S&T Workshop Podanur, and Golden Rock Workshop, Trichirappalli have participated.During the seminar, the rules and methods to be followed for reservation of posts in recruitment and promotions, dealing with court cases in regard to reservation disputes were elaborately discussed.Various Railway Board orders were taken for discussion with DOPT clarification.On 28.6.2011, the seminar was concluded with valedictory function.Smt. Sunita Vedantam, Chief Personnel Officer(Industrial Relations) welcomed the gatherings andShri R. Ramanathan, Additional General Manager was the Chief Guest of the function. In his address, he stressed that the person dealing with reservation shall clarify themselves to do better service to the SC/ST and OBC employees.Shri N.K. Prasad, Chief Personnel Officer, has delivered key note address and he elaborated the need for conducting seminar and if the staff and officersclarify themselves with the rules then only the employees from SC/ST/OBC communities will be benefited. He assured that more and more seminar like this will be conducted for clarity of the rules for the betterment of SC/ST and OBCs.The two drays seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri K. Manickaraj, SPO/Reservation.The above seminar was conducted by the Special Reservation Cellheaded by SPO/Reservation, Southern Railway.Participates were given certificates for having attended the two days seminar.
