Escalators Commissioned at MRTS Chepauk & Chintadripet Railway Stations

Southern Railway has commissioned escalators and lifts at various stations to facilitate hassle free movement of passengers.The Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) from Chennai Beach to Velachery witnesses a footfall of two lakh passengers every day.Chennai Division of Southern Railway has provided 37 Escalators in 13 stations of Mass Rapid Transit System section.

 Out of this, three Escalators in Chintadripet and o­ne escalator in Chepauk Railway stations were replaced at a total cost of Rs. 3.5 Crores and put into service o­n 18th December, 2018 after due safety durability test. With this, all the escalators in MRTS railway stations are in working condition.

Further, for the convenience of passengers, 33 Lifts have been provided in 15 stations of MRTS section.
