Southern Railway Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee Meeting held
The 126th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting of Southern Railway was convened today, the 30th of November, 2018 at Southern Railway Headquarters Office, Chennai. The meeting was presided by Shri.R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway who is the Chairman of the Committee.
39 newly nominated members from various fields representing passenger associations, Consumer organisations, Chamber of Commerce, Public Sector Undertakings,Persons nominated to represent Agricultural interest, Members nominated from Divisional Railway Users’ Committees of Divisions of Southern Railway, MLAs, nominees of MPs and nominees from Railway Board participated in the meeting . The Members evinced keen interest in the deliberations.
Speaking at the meeting, General Manager briefed about the various developmental activities undertaken by the zone. He also highlighted the performance of the Railway during the year elaborating on the zone’s efforts to enhance the comforts of rail users through provision of better passenger amenities and running of special trains to clear extra rush of passengers.
The members represented various issues pertaining to early completion of ongoing projects, introduction of trains, additional stoppages and provision of improved amenities for passengers, to mention a few. They sought the intervention of Southern Railway Administration and Railway Board in resolving the matters. General Manager assured that matters within the purview of the zone will be examined and others will be put up with Railway Board for perusal. General Manager also sought the co-operation of the members in taking forward the zone’s initiatives focusing infrastructural development and passenger amenities.
