GENERAL MANAGER SOUTHERN RAILWAY LAUDS ALERT LOCO PILOTS

The cautious approach and presence of mind of safety category staff has averted many a probable mishap thus saving the precious lives of passengers.

On 05th November, 2018, Shri M.Arun Kumar, Loco Pilot and Shri. Aseem S.Hameed, Asst. Loco Pilot of a Goods Train (Erode)experienced heavy jerk while the train was passing Kagankarai in Jolarpet-Salem section.Immediately, the Loco Pilot stopped the train and scrutinized the tracks and checked the train formation.The matter was informed to the Station Master of Kagankarai railway station and section engineers.Upon inspection by the Section Engineer, a weld failure was noticed. Subsequently, speed restriction was imposed in the section.After renewing cut rail Speed restriction was withdrawn and train operations resumed with normal sectional speed. 

On 21st November, 2018, whileTrain.12601 Mangalore Mail bound for Mangalore was approaching Basin Bridge, Shri.D.Bensly, Loco Pilot and Shri. Suresh Kumar Ganapathy, Asst. Loco Pilot (Chennai) noticed that the Point was set towards Korukkupet and immediately stopped the train at the foot of the singnal and ensured the passage of train in the correct direction.

Shri. R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway appreciated the vigilant and timely action of the above Loco Pilots and Asst.Loco Pilots who averted probable rail mishaps in two different incidents.In recognition of their outstanding devotion to duty, General Manager also presented them with cash awards and merit certification.
