RPF DIRECTOR GENERAL CONDUCTS SURAKSHA SAMMELAN IN CHENNAI

Shri Arun Kumar IPS, Director General of Railway Protection Force conducted “Suraksha   Sammelan“ with the officers and RPF Staff of Southern Railway and ICF, at Advanced Welding Training Institute Hall, ICF  Chennai. Shri Birendra Kumar Principal Chief Security Commissioner Southern Railway and S.K.Parhi Principal Chief Security Commissioner /ICF were also present. Suraksha Sammelan is an interactive session with the RPF officials, to assess the views of the staff in strengthening the RPF and to motivate them.DG RPF also outlined his vision for the Force and exhorted all the Force personnel to take o­n the fresh challenges thrown up due to the RPF being vested with  responsibility of Rail passenger and passenger area security . There was need to change the outlook of the Force to ensure fool proof passenger security in addition to carrying out the traditional role of protectors of Railway Property.

Addressing Press and Media, Shri Arun Kumar said, it is his privilege to meet the RPF staff to identify the issues and concerns, working out strategy of addressing Crimes o­n Railways, ensuring close coordination with State Police, which will help to better the Security of Passengers.

He said refresher courses and workshops will be arranged in the respective regions to strengthen and inspire RPF staff to address key issues like snatching of mobile phones, preventing crime o­n platforms, providing criminal intelligence etc.

Shri Arun Kumar was o­n his first visit to Southern Railway, after taking over the charge as, Director General of Railway Protection Force. He also had a meeting with General Manager of Southern Railway at Southern Railway headquarters and General Manager of ICF at ICF Office.
