CLEANLINESS DRIVES IN VARIOUS RAILWAY STATIONS o­n GANDHI JAYANTHI TODAY

Ministry of Railways is observing ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada’ across its entire network from 15th September to 2nd October 2018 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation.      

The Pakhwada commenced with the administration of Swachhta pledge to all Railway personnel. Then o­nwards, each date of the ‘Pakhwada’ was associated with a particular theme pertaining to cleanliness. Two days each were proposed to be devoted to Swachh Station, Swachh Train, Swachh Neer, Swachh Parisar, Swachh Samwad, Swachh Awareness across the entire network of Indian Railways.

Today, o­n the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, Swachta programs were conducted at various stations including Chennai Central where Shramdhaan by employees of Dominoes was done. They are donating Dust bins and also did cleaning and painting activities.

At Chennai Egmore Railway Station shramdhaan by volunteers of Sant Nirankar was done along with mime shows and skits by volunteers of Southern Railway Scouts and Guides in the presence of Shri P.K.Mishra, Addl General Manager, Southern Railway, Shri K.Manoj, Addl Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division, and others.

At Tambaram Rly Station too, Awareness Rally, Skits and Cleaning Shramdhaan by volunteers of Seva Bharathi NGO was conducted.
