SPECIAL TRAINS*ENHANCING OF SECURITY IN MRTS SECTION TO PREVENT CRIME

SPECIAL TRAINS

Southern Railway will run the following Special Trains to clear the extra rush of passengers.

Chennai Central – Madurai – Chennai Central Specials (via. Chennai Egmore, Mayiladuthurai): T. No. 06053 Chennai Central – Madurai Special will leave Chennai Central at 21.50 hrs. on 26.03.2011 (Saturday) & 28.03.2011 (Monday) and arrive Madurai at 08.50 hrs. the next day.T. No. 06054 Madurai – Chennai Central Special will leave Madurai at 21.10 hrs. on 27.03.2011 (Sunday) & 29.03.2011 (Tuesday) and arrive Chennai Central at 08.10 hrs. the next day.The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2-tier, 1 AC 3-tier, 10 Sleeper Class, 3 General Second Class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The trains will stop at Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Tiruchchirappalli and Dindigul.T. No. 06054 will stop at Mambalam also.

 

Advance reservations for the above special trains will commence on 24.03.2011.

ENHANCING OF SECURITY IN MRTS SECTION TO PREVENT CRIME

To provide a better security to the commuters in MRTS section, various security schemes have been introduced.The deployment of RPF personnel in the entire section has been increased.Visible and effective presence of RPF in the section will boost up the confidence of the travelling commuters and will act as a deterrent to the criminal elements.

 

·Railway stations in MRTS section are guarded by RPF staff round the clock, particularly all the stations in MRTS section are manned by RPF personnel during evening peak hours till the departure of the last train.

 

·Three special teams have been formed under the charge of one Assistant Sub-Inspector with 4 RPF Commandos and each team will cover 5 stations between Chennai Park Town and Velachery terminal.This team will conduct effective drives against unauthorized persons and other anti-social elements, who are taking shelter in and around station premises.

 

·A team under the charge of one Inspector and 4 personnel from Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) with arms will be moving in trains from 17.00 hrs. to 00.00 hrs. and then they will move by road for making rounds at all the stations between Park Town and Velachery up to 06.00 hrs.They apprehend the anti-social elements found in stations and trains and charge them under relevent sections of Railways Act.

 

·Women RPF personnel are deployed to escort the Ladies Special EMU trains in MRTS section.

The functioning of these schemes is being monitored closely at various levels for providing better security to the commuters in MRTS section.

 

Besides, the commercial branch hasl also intensified the ticket checking against the unauthorized persons and ticket less travellers with the assistance of Railway Protection Force.

 

The Railway administration has also requested the city police to introduce mobile patrolling on the approach way and outside the station premises.
